How Kids Turn Into Leaders at Functional Taekwondo
What is the process for transformation at Functional Taekwondo?
Teaching over 7 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping many families turn their shy and introverted kids into positively social and well spoken leaders.
Here are the top 3 strategies we use in our dojang to help kids become leaders!
#1 Opportunities to lead
Kids at our school are given many opportunities to lead. Whether that’s a warm up, helping another student, or demonstrating a technique. These small sequential steps eventually lead to bigger opportunities and responsibilities that require leadership.
#2 Positive peer pressure
At our school, you don’t have to worry if your kids are in the “wrong crowd”. The environment we have for kids is positive and encouraging (And if for a moment it isn’t myself the head instructor stops it immediately) That being said, class mates support their fellow peers when they have to lead and give them emotional support!
#3 Guidance and mentorship
As a kid, I struggled getting my voice heard. I was naturally introverted and not many people could actually tell that I’m an introvert based on how I talk to people. That being said, I know personally what it feels like to be nervous anxious and have a hard time speaking in front of other people. I will guide your kids to make sure they know the proper mechanics and “baby steps” that will help them learn how to become more of a leader.
